17 September, 2015

Hugh O'Flaherty painting donatedBallingeary artist, Tadhg Creed presented two of his paintings of Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty to be displayed in the Old Mon in Killarney, the school attended by Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty between 1909 and 1914 and at which he taught as a trainee teacher for some two years subsequently.

Canon pat Horgan of the Hugh O’Flaherty Memorial Committee said, “Tadhg asked if we could find a suitable home for his paintings and we immediately thought that the Monsignor’s old Alma Mater, the Presentation Monastery in Killarney would be the ideal place”

CEO of the Kerry Parents & Friends, Marie Lenihan said “We are delighted to accept the paintings and they will be displayed within the public spaces of the Old Mon”.

The paintings were presented to the Creative Writers Group within the KP&F, an initiative facilitated by Tommy Frank O’Connor.
